Job Description Summary

They maintain coordination between the various Facility departments and Facility Managers and maintains appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results.
Job Description
SUMMARY:
The primary role of the Engineering Planner is to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor and equipment, required permits, specialized documentation and project design deliverables. The Engineering Planner is responsible for developing design documents in cooperation with the Project Engineer such as project schedules, Scope of Work (SOW) documents, Request for Proposal (RFP) documents, and other various deliverables to help administrate and execute capital projects. They maintain coordination between the various Facility departments and Facility Managers and maintains appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintains capital project schedules/Gantt Charts. Coordinates regularly with Project Engineer to capture schedule changes and update documents and stakeholders as appropriate.
• Develops and maintains design documents in cooperation with the Project Engineer such as SOWs, RFP, Engineering Checklists, etc.
• Ensures safety needs are given a top priority in work planning and scheduling
• Develops and maintains file systems (physical and digital) including project submittal documents, equipment drawings, building and site utility layouts, communications, etc.
• Communicates with other facility departments such as HR, Production, or Safety, to coordinate internal resources needed for project execution (Firewatch, Confined Space, etc.)
• Prepares and reviews safety permit documents such as Hot Work or Barricade permits to ensure all construction work meets Lamb Weston safety standards.
• Updates and maintains spending forecast in cooperation with the Project Engineer on all capital projects to ensure accuracy on monthly report outs.
• Enters Goods Receipts (GRs) for received equipment and Service Entry Sheets (SESs) for completed labor on a weekly basis to keep project cost accounting updated.
• Reviews invoices for accuracy and communicates to vendors and internal procurement when needed to address incorrect documents.
• Performs post job reviews to ensure actual work performed and equipment installation is aligned with project scope and success criteria. Identifies punch list items and develops as-built documents to reflect final layout.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
• Must understand the general plant processes and interactions with the various departments.
• Shows an understand of basic mechanical skills.
• Must understand how to read and interpret CAD drawings, both 2D and 3D.
• Ability to develop and edit CAD drawings, both 2D and 3D, preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CMMS systems and related systems/software
• Strong knowledge of work management processes
• Good working knowledge of facilities equipment and O&M requirements
• Strong understanding of proper OSHA safety practices and procedures
• Good organization skills
• Strong understanding of skilled crafts such as HVAC, carpentry, electricity and electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing and pipe fitting, etc. preferred.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and/or schematic diagrams
• Technical writing ability
• Strong oral and written communications skill
• Demonstrated ability for independent decision-making
• Must be flexible and responsive to the needs of the business
• Must have the ability to overcome obstacles and have the organizational skills necessary to complete assignments in a timely manner
• Demonstrated ability to be proactive in problem solving and to lead the resolution of issues encountered during the project life cycle.
SAFETY:
Must have a complete knowledge and understanding of the plant safety rules including, but not limited to, the lock out/tag out procedure, chemical hazards and the hearing conservation program. Must have good personal hygiene and be able to practice safe work habits.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to effectively write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
WEEKEND WORK:
Must be available to work down weekends and during extended plant downtimes.
