Job Description Summary

As the Vice President of Data & Business Intelligence, a primary focus will be on establishing the enterprise-wide data strategy that powers informed decision-making, operational efficiency, and scalable business growth at Lamb Weston. You will have direct ownership of the centralization of Data & Business Intelligence services, directing Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, BI, and Data Governance. You will ensure our data is high-quality, secure, and accessible across all functions. In this strategic and hands-on role, you'll collaborate with executive leadership and business units to embed data as a core asset, driving digital transformation, data innovation, and the continued advancement of our analytics capabilities. Reporting to the CIO, your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of data at Lamb Weston.

Job Description

Role Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Establish the strategic direction and priorities that ladder up to the Lamb Weston’s business priorities.
  • Execute, oversee, and adapt the comprehensive enterprise data strategy aligned to business priorities.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, project milestones, and KPIs to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget and day-to-day operations meet the needs of the business.
  • Directly manage a multi-disciplinary team of data engineers, analytics engineers, BI developers, data analysts, and data governance professionals.
  • Provide strategic leadership, mentorship, and performance management to direct reports and broader team members.
  • Lead department succession planning and talent development efforts and bring a strong point of view to enterprise IT succession planning efforts to grow future data leaders.
  • Ownership of department budgets, vendor relationships, and resource planning to support organizational needs.
  • Lead the organization from Descriptive/Diagnostic Analytics to Predictive/Prescriptive Analytics.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Finance, Strategy, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Commercial, Marketing, and IT to deliver trusted, reusable data products and insights.
  • Enable and advocate for a data-driven culture across departments, driving data literacy, education, and responsible data use.
  • Lead enterprise-wide initiatives that integrate data into everyday decision-making, operations, and strategy development.
  • Lead cross-functional data initiatives and steering groups with senior business and IT stakeholders.

 Data

  • Establish and manage a robust data governance framework, including data quality, lineage, stewardship, metadata frameworks, and access control.
  • Architect and oversee scalable data pipelines and services to source and curate high-quality datasets for analytics, business intelligence, and (futuristically) machine learning use cases.

   Analytics

  • Oversee the delivery of self-service BI solutions, KPIs, dashboards, and enterprise reporting that empower business teams.
  • Lead the business through transformation from spreadsheet-based analytics to more advanced analytics, fully utilizing our Business Intelligence suite of tools.
  • Drive the adoption of self-service BI and promote data literacy throughout the organization

Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning

  • Establish strategic direction for use and application of AI/ML at Lamb Weston.
  • Serve as on-going thought leader and subject matter expert in the application of AI and ML in a business intelligence context.
  • Communicate the value and impact of AI/ML initiatives to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Drive the development and implementation of innovative AI/ML models and solutions, including predictive and prescriptive analytics, natural language processing, and potentially generative AI.
  • Oversee the entire ML model lifecycle, from development and validation to deployment and monitoring.

  Technical

  • Champion automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices within the data and analytics functions.
  • Partner with CISO and ensure data protection and regulatory compliance across all platforms, including GDPR, CCPA, and internal controls.
  • Set standards for data modeling, versioning, and documentation to support collaboration, reuse, and scalability.
  • Monitor trends in data technology and practices, bringing innovation and continuous improvement to the team.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and using data to make a meaningful impact
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a scientific, computing, or numerical discipline preferred, or commensurate mix of experience and education.
  • Professional certifications in data management, cloud, or agile (e.g., dbt Analytics Engineering Certification, AWS Certified Data Analytics, Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional) preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in data, analytics, or technology roles
  • 5+ years of experience leading data teams across multiple disciplines (engineering, BI, governance, etc.).
  • Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-wide data solutions in a cloud environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing
  • Previous experience reporting to executive leadership or serving on a senior technology leadership team is preferred.
  • Experience implementing data product frameworks or hub-and-spoke data operating models is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of modern technologies (e.g., dbt, SQL, Python, Spark, Delta Lake/Data Lake, SAP BW, SAP Analytics Cloud, Kafka, Airflow, Alteryx, cloud platforms such as Snowflake or databricks, Tableau, Power BI, AWS QuickSight).
  • A proven record of leading successful AI/ML initiatives
  • Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
  • Experience with SAP data structures
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with implementing & evolving data governance frameworks and enterprise data quality practices.
  • Proficient in cloud-based data architecture.
  • Proficient in code management, testing, and release automation practices.
  • Skilled in translating business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Ability to build and maintain a high-performing, collaborative, and inclusive team environment.
  • Results-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experienced operator of Agile methodologies in the context of data development.
  • Experience working in ServiceNow.
  • Ability to travel independently up to 10-20%.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate’s work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $224,900.00 - $337,350.00
