Job Description Summary

The Senior Manager EHS Center of Excellence (COE) plays a crucial role in supporting Lamb Weston’s commitment to achieving the Global EHS Journey to Zero. This position reports to the Director of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and is responsible for developing and implementing key initiatives that address EHS issues while aligning with the company’s goals and objectives. The individual in this role will oversee initiatives such as the EHS Framework, the EHS Management System, EHS Continuing Education, EHS emerging issues, and EHS Continuous Improvement.

Job Description

  • Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to EHS Staff to ensure effective development, delivery, and execution of EHS Systems, Capabilities, and Improvement functions.
  • Drive the development and execution of robust strategies and enhance EHS essential systems, tools, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain global EHS standards and policies.  Collaborate closely with Central Engineering to implement design specifications in alignment with EHS requirements. 
  • Manage the Global EHS Compliance process, including compliance calendar, legal register, audits, and self-assessments.
  • Assist the regional and site EHS team with regulatory agencies by providing coaching, guidance, and support from internal counsel when appropriate (e.g., inspections, conference committees, SMEs, etc.).
  • Integrate the EHS Framework and IMS into existing operations and newly acquired businesses.
  • Support the development and delivery of the global EHS training program.
  • Lead efforts to include support for internal or external audits, assessments, and inspections.
  • Act as the central point for implementing standardized EHS risk mitigation solutions throughout the company.
  • Drive management of change processes to reduce risk as new materials, processes, or procedures are introduced that may represent a new or previously unrecognized hazard.
  • Conduct periodic health checks and provide feedback on EHS programs, processes, and policies to ensure adoption across the organization.
  • Drive the development and deployment of effective root cause analysis and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) programs.
  • Track and report on leading and lagging EHS key performance indicators and compliance metrics for Internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to LambWeston leaders on the status of EHS initiatives, challenges, and achievements.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, environment, or a closely related field
  • 7 years of progressive EHS experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (food industry experience preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations, especially in the food industry; international EHS regulatory experience is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of EPA, OSHA, DOT, and workers' compensation laws.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills. Demonstrated abilities and commitment to developing others in both corporate and plant environments,
  •  Travel up to 50% domestically, with infrequent travel to international locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in safety, environment, or a closely related field
  • Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Environmental Manager, or Professional Engineer
  • 10+ years of experience in safety and environment leadership roles, preferably over multiple locations, in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 or ISO risk-based management systems preferred

Physical Requirements:

The position requires adaptability to both office and manufacturing environments, including possible adverse weather conditions. The role involves representing Lamb Weston on EHS matters with internal and external stakeholders. Travel is necessary to fulfill responsibilities, with annual travel expectations varying according to individual needs.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate’s work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $113,930.00 - $170,900.00
