Job Description Summary
Is responsible for the routine and non-routine repair and maintenance of plant electrical systems.
Has the basic electrical and mechanical aptitude to build on and an eagerness to expand their knowledge and to increase their skills in the electrical maintenance department in compliance with established Company standards.
Has applicable prior experience with electrical equipment and systems, electrical troubleshooting.
Will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain the plant electrical systems in a manner that optimizes and sustains equipment operation and reliability to assure an uninterrupted processing of quality potato products.
Must be able to work the scheduled days, shifts, times and overtime required for this position.
Job Description
Maintains and promotes safe work practices at all times,assures that safe work practices are being followed in all work groups, and activelyparticipatesin safety programs.

To the best of theirabilityperformscorrective and preventivemaintenanceincluding the inspection of equipment within scope of responsibility to sustain and improve equipment reliability.
To the best of their abilityperformsthe safe isolation, shut down, inspection, adjustment, repair/overhaul or startup of equipment and systems within scope of responsibility with the mindset toidentifydefects,identifythe reason for the failure, and then take corrective action toeliminatea recurring failure.
Worksclosely with the Electrical Maintenance Team Lead to achieveall department goals.
Develops the capabilityofconnectingpower supply wires topanels, components,and equipment.Develops the capabilityof connectingcables and wires betweenpanels,componentsand equipment.
Develops the capabilityofinstallingandmaintainingwiring, Motor Control Centers (MCC’s), bus duct,conduitand electrical systemsin accordance withthe National Electrical Code.
Develops the capabilityofdiagnosing,repairing,replacing, entering,re-enteringor programingdevice parametersforfaulty electrical/electronic controlcomponents or equipment such asbut not limited totransformers, motors, lighting fixtures, relays, switches, sensors,probes,VFD’s,HMI’s,PLC’s,instrumentationand otherdevices.
Capable ofassistingother work groups, specialists, outside resources and contractors with the troubleshooting, adjustment, repair, replacement, modification, maintenance, rebuilding and installation of components, equipment, etc., as directed.
Documentscorrective maintenance and preventive maintenance of equipment to improve and sustain equipment reliability.Documentation may include but is not limited to SAP, FM form, BDE card,etc...
Develops the capability of evaluatingequipment for performance. Per training and following established procedures,performsmanual adjustments, overrides automatic controls, etc., to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges. Switch to backup equipment orsystems, orshut down equipment as needed toassureoptimalequipment performance and the production of quality potato products.
Capableofutilizingresources such as but not limited to printed or on-line equipment manuals,operatinginstructions, troubleshooting guidelines, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, etc., to assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot,repairor replace equipment or system components.
Required to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to advance from a 3rdClassElectricianto a 2ndClassElectricianwithin the maximum allotted time of 12 months from the date of hire or transfer as 3rd Class.Passinggradefor all written examinations must be 75% or better.
The two-part advancement test to2ndClass consistsof, 1) Written test, and2) Hands-on validation of basic troubleshooting skills.
Failure to pass the2ndClass advancement test will result in termination or reassignment outside the maintenance department.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:HighSchool diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred;two-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of fouryearseducation and related experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read andcomprehendinstructions, correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to writeaccurateinformation in English. Ability to effectively present or listen to information inoneononeand small group situations with all other employees of the organization in English.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS:Mustbe able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Abilityto solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructionsfurnishedin written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, or abilityrequired.

The noise level in the work environment requires the use of appropriate hearing protection.
