Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for adjusting line flow rates on the mainline and co-product line by adding or catching bulk as well as upgrading of coded bulk as deemed applicable by the supervisor. Sanitation duties of the work area as well as assisting in the rework of different products may also be required.
Job Description
Participate in the safety engagement process. This includes giving I Care huddles, conducting area assessments, and addressing all safety concerns with the Production Team Lead.
Confers with packaging supervisor and/or packaging lead to determine the label, bulk correlation, quality concerns, tentative blend back rate and cut schedule on both lines.
Adjusts add-back rates necessary to obtain optimum packaging efficiency within the prescribed quality assurance specifications.
Responsible for the catching of bulk during overflow or toting situations on both the mainline and the co-product line
Maintains work area in a safe,clean and sanitary manner.
Inspects and monitors the condition of bulk during preparation for dumping. (Inspects and reports all foreign material occurrences.)
Uses the proper standards and procedures for adding back totes as prescribed by plant policy and/or supervision.
Monitors line flow to packaging to ensure quality and potential for bulk add-back.
Assists in recase/rework of restricted product.
Aids in the breaking of other personnel as deemed applicable by the supervisor.
Actively engaged in safety, participates in safety programs, safety activities, performs risk assessments and demonstrates ownership as well as leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members. Reports all incidents, near misses, and any safety concerns.
Performs all other duties as prescribed bysupervisor.
Other duties may be assigned.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be forklift qualified. If not qualified, training will be provided.
Sanitation qualified is required.If not qualified, training will be provided.
Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
Skills
- Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
Be able to sit, stand, walk, and climb.
Have good hand-eye coordination.
Have normal finger dexterity and range of motion.
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds on frequent basis.
Have specific vision abilities required by this job, which include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Required to reach with his/her hands and arms repetitively.
Must be able to push and pull heavy items on occasion.
Work Environment
Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts.
Will frequently be exposed to moderately cold surroundings.
Will occasionally be exposed to humid conditions as well as moderate heat.
May be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Will regularly work around forklift traffic.
Will frequently be exposed to dust & batter allergies.
