Job Description Summary
This position works under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor or Department Head and Electrical Leader(s) during business hours or when present. This position also works under the direction of the Shift Manager during non-business hours or when the appropriate Department Personnel are not present.
Supports operations by maintaining electrical systems, installs and sets up equipment, reads and understands prints and schematics. Repairs and maintains machinery and equipment such as but not limited to electrical motors, motor control centers, metal detectors, automatic defect removal equipment, optical sorting equipment and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.
This position will be required to work any shift and/or any day of the week in accordance with production schedules.
Job Description
Operates process equipment and performs duties as follows:
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Provincial Electrical Code.
Have a working knowledge of all processing, and packaging equipment within our manufacturing environment.
Perform electrical and technical inspection / repair / maintenance / installation of processing, packaging and building systems within our manufacturing environment.
Troubleshoot all electrical, PLC, and SCADA systems.
Support Management and employees efforts to optimize manufacturing & electrical efficiencies and promote continuous improvement.
Work with Supervisory staff and safety committees to develop and implement safety improvements.
Must be a safe leader, and be able to coach other in all aspects of safe work.
Maintains/Promotes safe work practices at all times.
Must have a complete knowledge and understanding of the plant safety rules including lockout-tag out procedure.
Understands and follows all plant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Demonstrate within 30 days of job assignment, ownership of proper tools for the job.
Provide mentoring & training for electrical team members, including apprenticeship program support.
Satisfactorily complete Job Criteria List and training Program as outlined by Electrical Supervisor.
Fill out, maintain and sign all applicable documentation and administration forms for verification purposes.
Ensure timely, accurate records are maintained (CMMS), including calibration records Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Communicates with operators, sanitation leaders and supervisors as follows:
To keep abreast of downtime maintenance activities.
To keep abreast of production activities.
Remove any foreign material found during transfers and notifies supervisor immediately if glass or metal is found.
Maintain sanitation in the work area as needed and:
Clean shop area as determined necessary (using the designated cleaning equipment and supplies). Notify supervisors and sanitation leaders when repair work in the production area is completed.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
- Provincial Journeyman certificate from college or technical school.
- 3 – 5 years previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- AB PLC programming experience preferred
- Industrial Instrumentation experience is preferred
