Job Description Summary
This position monitors the functions of the packaging and palletizing equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment, allowing continuous line flow and packaging to meet customer demands. This position has the responsibility of performing routine preventative maintenance as well as performing unplanned repairs while supporting operations.
Job Description
- Performs maintenance work, repair, and adjustment of equipment; change and replace belts, pulleys, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors and general maintenance on other specialty equipment unique to packaging.
- Understands and can explain the purpose and operation of all equipment in the packaging area and makes decisions on appropriate troubleshooting and repair of equipment as situations warrant.
- Diagnoses and repairs problems with valves, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
- Reads operating instructions and maintenance manuals to perform repairs.
- Updates CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) with status and details of work order results daily.
- Performs non-routine maintenance jobs as assigned.
- Maintains organized workspaces, tools, support 5S, centerlining, and documentation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic and Preferred
Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
- Lock-out/Tag-out, Forklift, and Sanitation certification are required. If you are not qualified, you will be trained and must meet certification requirements
Skills and Experience:
- Experience performing maintenance in a manufacturing environment, specifically food processing highly preferred.
- Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English, both written and oral. (Requirement may vary by location).
- Ability to perform basic math functions, required
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Applicability of job levels varies by location and is determined by the plant skills matrix.
Physical Environment/Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
- Exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature
- Exposure to manufacturing environments to include: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergies
- Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.
- Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Valid Driver’s License and driving record that meets Lamb Weston Driving Standards
- Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant Operation
- Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis
