Job Description Summary

Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by grading product using procedures and specifications. Records and informs the appropriate personnel of the product quality being processed as required.

Job Description

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for monitoring and evaluating product quality throughout the production process to ensure compliance with established specifications and food safety standards. This position performs quality testing, collects and analyzes data, documents results, and communicates quality concerns to appropriate personnel. The role supports continuous improvement initiatives by identifying deviations, recommending corrective actions, and helping maintain consistent product quality.

Job Responsibilities

• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices, and actively participate in safety programs.
• Perform quality assurance functions across multiple workstations and production areas as assigned.
• Collect, record, and accurately enter quality and production data into quality assurance forms and computer systems.
• Monitor product quality and report any irregularities or deviations from established standards to the appropriate personnel.
• Sample and evaluate products using approved procedures for attributes including length, defects, color, texture, solids, packaging waste, case weights, case integrity, product temperatures, and additive levels.
• Perform upstream color and additive control procedures in accordance with established standards.
• Select products for testing at designated stages of the production process and perform required quality evaluations.
• Conduct dimensional, performance, mechanical, electrical, and chemical characteristic testing as required.
• Record and maintain test results using statistical quality control procedures.
• Analyze and evaluate data to verify compliance with established standards and identify process deviations.
• Recommend modifications to quality or production standards to help achieve optimum product quality within equipment capabilities.
• Prepare reports, charts, graphs, and other documentation, or enter data into computer systems for analysis and process monitoring.
• Utilize a variety of quality assurance, laboratory, testing, measurement, and computer equipment necessary to evaluate product quality, collect data, perform analyses, and support production operations.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quality assurance activities.
• Perform sanitation and housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Participate in weekend cleanup activities as assigned and perform other duties as required.

• Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and production environment.
• Employees may be exposed to wet and slippery floors, elevated temperatures, humidity, machinery vibration, and continuous industrial noise.

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• One to three months of related experience and/or training preferred; knowledge of manufacturing operations and experience working around production equipment is desirable.
• Ability to read and understand instructions, procedures, correspondence, and quality documentation in English.
• Ability to accurately complete forms, maintain records, and enter data into computerized systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings with employees, supervisors, and other personnel in English.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, ratios, rates, percentages, and statistical quality calculations.
• Ability to apply sound judgment and carry out detailed written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards.
• Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate quality and production data accurately.
