Job Description Summary
Packaging Operators are responsible for the efficient operation of all equipment from the discharge of the Freeze Tunnel, until it reaches Americold. They are personally responsible for the operation & sanitation of the Ishida Scales/Bag Weighers, Triangle Baggers, Bliss Machine, Seasoning Drum, Blue Print Case Erectors/Case Packers, Elliott Case Sealers, Add Backs and Bulk Off Area. Packaging Operators may need to assist Palletizer Operators in order to ensure product reaches Americold. They will complete all Safety requirements, Centerline Checks, Basic Care/CIL Routes, Planned Stop Activities, and adhere to break times. Packaging Operators are required to carry a radio and respond to issues pertaining to their designated area(s). They will be required to work Cleanups. Packaging Operators are required to go up and down stairs and be on their feet for most of the day. They will be required to enter data into the LEDs computer system. They will be required to attend designated meetings regarding top losses and actions involved. Packaging Operators must actively participate in Peer to Peer and Shift DS/DDS meetings. They will be required to strip out bags and keep their area(s) clean. Packaging Operators are responsible for ensuring the utilization of the Add-back system to eliminate totes, while protecting product quality. They must understand how to operate Frozen Grading and demonstrate the initiative of being able to make changes as needed. Operators must understand how to use all HMI operations, including thermal imaging capabilities. Successful operators must be able to troubleshoot issues and solve them on their own. Packaging Operators must demonstrate initiative, drive, and leadership. They must be able to effectively communicate with other Team Members in their areas. They must also have basic Mathematic, Mechanical, and Computer capabilities. They must perform all AMD activities as needed. To incorporate the Velocity model around equipment ownership-Operators must find and fix defects.

JOB DETAILS
Under the supervision of a Team Lead, this position is responsible for the Operation, Performance, Food Safety, and Safety of the Pack Floor. This individual is responsible for setting up equipment and verifying Quality attributes such as Bag Weights, Seals, and Codes. They are also responsible for the Shadow Boards (5s) and Sanitation of their area. During operations, this position is responsible for ordering packaging materials as needed.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Responsible for performing all necessary duties for a successful Cut Change. Must understand how Frozen Grading works. Responsible for adjusting equipment for optimum performance. Responsible for swapping equipment Change Parts throughout the line. Responsible for changing primary container mediums (poly, clear tite, etc.) as needed. Responsible for making sure that the correct product weight is being bagged. Responsible for checking the Bag/Case Code. Responsible for ensuring that primary and secondary containers are Food Safe. Responsible for fixing and finding defects. Operators must complete a timed Hands on Validation to be properly signed off on. Three total attempts with appropriate retraining will be available. Must know and exercise LOTO for all pertinent equipment. Must follow all plant and job specific Safety and Food Safety duties. Must meet all Safety requirements. Maintain good personal hygiene. Work all Cleanups as assigned. Keep all tools and equipment, not in use, in designated locations. Aid in the training of new Operators as directed. Other duties may be assigned by Supervisors, as needed.
PREREQUISITE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to communicate effectively and understand both verbal and written instructions. Must be self-motivated. Must be able to go up and down stairs throughout the Shift. Must be able to be on feet all day (60/40 walking/standing) Must have a basic Mechanical and Computer aptitude. Understand basic Math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds.
