Job Description Summary
A Process Mechanic 3 candidate should have an Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or electromechanical maintenance and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a maintenance department in an industrial or manufacturing plant. In lieu of this, consideration will be given to candidates with a minimum of 10 years of mechanical or electrical maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing facility. Experience in Food Processing preferred. Experience working on Fork Lifts preferred. This position requires the ability to work shifts.
Job Description
The Process Mechanic provides the necessary service for maintenance, running adjustments and repairs to all process equipment in the raw receiving area, peel room, trim room, blancher and fryer areas, Process support, and other appropriate plant areas as needed. This position provides problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities in dealing with equipment performance, equipment maintenance, product quality, training and equipment improvement. This position reports to the Process Maintenance Team Leader.
Must have an expert level of maintenance knowledge base and ability to work in any area.
Must have an expert working knowledge of bearings, chains, belts, pumps, gearboxes, conveyor belts, and motors. And be proficient in laser alignment of equipment and Precision Maintenance.
Must have an expert understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic control devices.
Must have the ability to perform structurally sound welds and use cutting equipment as listed below:
Use of acetylene cutting torch-mild steel
Arc weld (all positions) – mild steel, stainless steel
Heliarc, wirefeed (all positions) preferred – mild, stainless
Proficient in plasma cutting
Must be able to use shop power tools, do basic sheet metal work, cut, bend and crimp, use metal break, roller break and hand tools.
Ability to read O&M manuals and identify spare parts and part numbers for reorder purposes.
Responsible for maintaining the safe operation of his/her work area and for bringing to supervisory personnel any unsafe conditions present.
Must be able to become proficient at using the plant Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to write Work Orders, order parts, complete PM routes, and enter equipment history.
Must perform corrective or emergency maintenance checks and correct problems in a timely manner to minimize line downtime.
Execute Preventative Maintenance activities as assigned. Help develop effective work plans and enhanced preventative maintenance plans.
Must be proficient in all sanitation practices and food safety practices.
Must have the ability to work weekends and/or shift work with a strong work ethic and employment history.
Must have the ability to work overtime, any shift, work any or all days of the week in accordance with production and maintenance schedules.
Must have the ability to work well with others and maintain a positive attitude.

Must have the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must have the ability to write correspondence. Must have the ability to understand equipment drawings, schematics, diagrams and operating instructions.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Mathematical skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

- Must obtain Lamb Weston lift truck operator’s license
