Job Description Summary
Leads team members to identify, manage, and execute the plant’s process improvement opportunities. Manages production staff to attain production and quality goals. Identifies problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolves issues. Ensures production resources including materials, equipment, and human resources are available as needed to maintain production schedules. Supports continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost, and customer service. Responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team- oriented work force in order to improve business results.
Job Description
Individuals in this position must:
- Be able to work weekends and/or shift work, including evenings and graveyard shifts.
- Direct the processing activity in the plant which includes supervision of the hourly work force in planning, equipment operation and repair, materials usage, scheduling of operations, training, etc. Responsible for the quality, safety and sanitation in the plant.
- Coordinate and implement the planned sanitation and housekeeping program to insure environment meets company and federal standards.
- Train and supervise subordinates in safety and accident prevention practices.
- Administer plant and human resource policies to assure satisfactory employee relations.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Warehouse and Maintenance personnel, as well as other Production Supervisors on shift.
- Must assure, in controlling various production operations, steps are taken to remain in compliance with USDA and FDA food laws, company policies, and be familiar with laws that govern the Company's conduct with its employees (EEO, OSHA, etc.)
- Must be familiar with factors affecting recovery, grade yields, labor costs, labor utilization and material waste.
- Knowledge of the function and basic operating characteristics of each piece of equipment under his/her control is necessary for proper control of quality and grade of product being produced and packaged. Necessary adjustments are recommended to operators, and line settings are made to maintain highest level of productivity.
- Responsible for proper training of all personnel and assuring that operators recognize discrepancies and make adjustments and/or repairs prior to any appreciable loss of productivity occurs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises a total of 20-70 employees in the areas of Quality and Production. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Language Skills
Effectively communicates in English verbally and in writing. Understands instructions and follow directions in English.
Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Computes rate, ratio, and percent and draws and interprets bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of manufacturing software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to type 40 wpm.
Education
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year accredited college or university or three years related experience. Completion of internal LW Process Quality (PQ) program.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment ranges from loud (earplugs required) to no noise (office environment).

A candidate’s work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $62,550.00 - $93,820.00
