Job Description Summary
In this position, you will provide support to the Retail commercial finance and sales teams for trade promotions planning, reporting, and analytics. Specific tasks may include assisting with the annual operating plan, monthly forecasting, trade promotions reserve development and management, auditing of trade promotions programs, developing reporting, conducting reviews, ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
Job Description
Support and collaborate with assigned sales team in annual sales planning process, including but not limited to:
Perform monthly/quarterly trade promotions reviews (actual results vs plan, prior year and forecast). Take a proactive role in understanding key trade promotion components of the P&L and be able to explain key drivers for material changes in the financial results
Provide support on trade promotion reserve management
Analyzing accuracy of base volume forecasting in trade promotion planning system (MEI)
Post merchandising event analytics of volume and trade promotion spending liability in trade promotions planning system
Collaboration across Sales, Claims Processors, and Marketing to ensure event and contract accuracy/consistency as well as assistance with claims processing inquiries to ensure spending accuracy and integrity
Actively ensure an effective and timely month-end close is achieved by optimizing MEI trade rates, analyzing trade deductions, and researching and preparing appropriate support for journal entries
Analyze monthly business results, issue required reports, reconciliations, and make recommendations to business partners on opportunities for improvement.
Understand and challenge (where necessary) monthly variances and work with Sales/Finance to manage.
Assist with BU annual budget preparation for trade spend
Develop relationships with cross-functional partners and key central services groups
Complete special projects as required
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field
1-3 years of related experience or a related combination of education and experience
Analytical skills - the individual must be able to perform complicated analysis using multiple sources of data, as well as advanced analysis required to support various teams in their trade and pricing decisions (e.g., structure the problem, collect data, identify issues and present results) with minimal direction.
Attention to detail and must love numbers
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact and persuade individuals levels senior to him or her, as well as actively participate in meetings and group discussions with individuals from various parts of the organization (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Finance)
Excellent organization and prioritization skills
Critical-thinking and creative problem-solving ability
Self-starter with the ability to function in a fast paced, dynamic environment with a positive attitude
Some travel – up to 10 %
Advanced skill in the use of a variety of technologies and tools:
Superior computer skills required (Microsoft Office – spread sheet, database management, pivot tables, presentations, etc.)
Knowledge and understanding of syndicated data tools preferred (IRI, Nielsen, SPINS),
Experience with Trade Planning Systems preferred (MEI, TPM, etc.)
Knowledge and experience with SAP, MEI, Power BI
Ability to quickly learn and use new systems/tools

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate’s work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $69,500.00 - $104,240.00
