Job Description Summary
The Engineering Tech 1 will be responsible for planning, developing, and designing layouts of processing lines and other plant modifications using industry standard 2D and 3D CAD software. They will work regularly on a project team and need to coordinate work with engineers and contractors. The ideal candidate will be able to efficiently run design software, have an eye for detail; and be able to develop creative solutions to challenges in equipment layout as well as construction and equipment design standards. Additional duties may include field design/installation oversight activities, as well as an opportunity to assist in the implementation and training of others in the use of new Data Management software.
Job Description
- Develop and maintain drawing standards and design strategies.
- Craft models and drawings of facility and equipment using CAD.
- Teach others to read and interpret 2D and 3D drawings.
- Improve existing products and processes.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Assist department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions.
- Assist and support development and implementation of departmental initiatives.
- Ensure all designs executed adhere to company specifications.
- Recognize, document, and promote best practices.
- Be a design resource for the project managers and project engineers.
- Run small capital projects, such as single equipment installations or roof replacement.
- Submit sanitation work orders (Wos) and coordinate roof and floor maintenance and capital projects.
- Update and maintain Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures, Motor Control Center (MCC) panel schedules, and plant overview drawings.
- Manage safety protocols for contractors, including hot work and training compliance.
- Initiate fire watch requests via the SharePoint form and issue and manage Hot Work permits for the crew.
- Ensure contractors complete yearly site-specific training and follow up on their ISN participation.
- Attach contractor safety review sheets to Hot Work permits for audit records.
- Requires working knowledge of company safety policies, fire protection policies, building codes, regulations, and corporate requirements to ensure conformance with these regulations.
- Assume any duties assigned be Engineering or Project managers.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Certifications:
- Associate degree or CAD certificate desirable
Skills and Experience:
- 2-3 years’ experience using CAD software in a work setting.
- Excellent computer and technical aptitude.
- Able to pick up new skills at a fast past.
- Accurate and precise attention to detail.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a design team.
- Demonstrated time and task management skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good computational and spatial ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft desktop applications such as Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Willing to work weekends and holidays to facilitate the completion of capital projects
- Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and an independent problem solver who receives direction effectively.
- Must be self-motivated and able to handle multiple assignments with minimum guidance.

A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $52,200.00 - $78,300.00
