Job Description Summary
As a Farm Shop Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in the repair, rebuilding, and maintenance of farm equipment. This position demands a high level of expertise in diagnosing and repairing tractors, trucks, and heavy machinery. You will work with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our farm equipment.
Job Description
Diagnose and perform repairs on tractors, trucks, and heavy equipment, including but not limited to engine overhauls, transmission and differential repairs, as well as diagnosing and repairing electrical and hydraulic systems.
Maintain detailed equipment records and complete maintenance reports.
Prioritize tasks effectively to meet operational needs.
Manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
Collaborate with the team and lead by example, sharing knowledge and skills to promote a positive working environment.
Be prepared to respond to equipment breakdowns and malfunctions promptly, especially during critical times in the farming season.
Actively engage in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Comply with and actively participate in Company safety policies, practices, and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 3 years' experience in an agricultural maintenance shop environment is highly preferred.
Proficiency in diagnosing and performing repairs on tractors and trucks, including engine overhauls, transmission and differential repairs, and troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems.
Welding and fabrication skills, including field repairs.
Basic computer skills, such as using email, touchscreens, and diagnostic programming.
Ability to read schematics.
Must be able to pass a company Motor Vehicle Requirement (MVR) check and meet the Lamb Weston Driving Policy requirements.
Strong customer service orientation.
Physical Environment/Demands:
Capable oflifting up to 50 pounds (100 lbs with a team lift) and performing frequent tasks that involve standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, twisting, and turning.
Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments with varying temperature conditions, from hot to cold.
Regular exposure to outdoor farming environments during the workday, including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, odors, and allergens.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform other movements required for job actions and procedures.
Ability to work with hands and arms overhead and to work under equipment.
Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in elevated positions to perform job duties.
Ability to operate equipment related to the job.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Regular climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders to access equipment.
